In this talk, Lama Lena teaches on Generosity, the first of the Six Paramitas. She discusses the three kinds of generosity – (1) Generosity of form and body, (2) Generosity of intent and speech, and (3) Generosity of mind and thought – and shows us how generosity manifests spontaneously in the Dzogchen approach.
We look at the difference between “open-hearted generosity” and the kind of self-conscious giving that leaves us over-extended. Finally, we consider that the biggest gift we can give to any being is to “leave them be as they are”, with an open heart, and not try to “fix” them. This generosity of mind must first be offered to ourselves: in any given moment, we must let ourselves be exactly what we are, without agenda.
Towards the end of the talk, Lama Lena touches on Morality, the second Paramita, defining between “Geywa” (that which leads to good karma) and “Digpa” (that which leads to negative karma), and promises to teach on that Paramita in 2019!
This talk was given at Downtown London Yoga , in London, Ontario, on July 31, 2018. Thank you to Annette B and Jangchub Zangmo for making this audio recording possible!
